State Youth Games
6-9th July, 2025

State Youth Games is a weekend sport and art event for high schoolers and young adults from across Victoria. Spend the June Long Weekend camping with our youth group and playing a range of casual and competitive sports along with opportunities to explore a faith in Jesus.

Bairnsdale Baptist Youth has been going for several years now and it is always a special and fun time for our youth. We camp together on site which is a whole lot of fun. Each day our youth participate in a number of individual and team sports and other games/arts programs. Each night there is a session in which the gospel is proclaimed along with some great music.

We would love youth registered no later than April 7 as it saves them money (early bird discount. Only registration needs to happen by then. Payment isn't required until just before SYG and we don't want cost to inhibit anyone from coming so please talk to a youth leaders if we can help cover costs.

The registration link is below and includes questions such as contact details, sport preferences, medical/dietary information, transport organisation and how youth would like to camp.

More information is also below regarding payment, transport and what to bring. This may be updated as we get closer to SYG.

Important Information

The camp costs $200 per person. This covers the program, sports, food and other equipment we use to camp for the weekend.  Helpers who don't participate in sport but attend camp to supervise and provide transport pay $150.

Payment isn't required until just before SYG.

Please write SYG and your Surname as a reference. 

Please speak to Jacob Freiberg, Telina Caithness or Pastor John if you need assistance with payment. We are seeking help from others in our church to subsidize costs.

The actual cost of attending SYG works out higher than the fees being charged. The difference is covered by fundraising and the generous support of the church.

 

Going to SYG

We have two groups leaving from the church at different times. The first group leaves 9am on Friday morning to help setup the campsite.

The second group leave after school (4pm) from the church to make it in time for the first night session. 

Returning From SYG

All cars come back together from SYG on the Monday arriving to Bairnsdale at about 5pm. We will notify parents when we leave SYG of our approximate arrival time.

Drivers

All drivers to and from SYG are inusred and have either a full driver's licence or a Victorian P1 licence (Green P Plates). We will organise drivers and passengers closer to SYG and notify you whose car your youth will be in.

If you are planning on driving your own youth please let us know and also let us know if you have room for other passengers.

Clothes

One thing we can guarantee is that it will be cold. Make sure you pack warm clothes.

  • Track pants, Jeans
  • Shorts (for sports)  
  • Tshirts, jumpers 
  • Some clothes that can get dirty
  • Underwear
  • Thermal underwear, skivvies
  • Extra socks (in case they get wet)
  • 3 pairs shoes 
  • Rain coat
  • Beanie, gloves, scarf
  • Pj’s

Other

  • Toiletries & towel
  • Sleeping Bag & Inner sheet (extra blanket if req’d)
  • Mattress & Pillow
  • Camp chair
  • Drink bottle

Camping Gear

Please let us know (when you register) if you are bringing your own camping gear.

We provide a number of excellent tents for the youth to share or they can bring their own tent or swag.

Please know that there can often be rain and cold weather is pretty much assured!

You are required to have as a minimum 1 team t-shirt to wear while at SYG. After you register we will email out a clothing form. Many will already have clothing from last year so they won't need to order more clothing but are welcome to. We will send out a separate clothing order soon.
